Project Quilting - Apple Blossom Challenge Progress

So I decided to go ahead and post progress pictures for my Apple Blossom challenge. It's based off of a sketch I did from a couple of pictures that Kim had posted to inspire us for the challenge.

It's still in a million pieces, with a million pins to hold it in place, so I can see where the holes are that need to be filled in... and it's only on the muslin foundation, before I can even start quilting it... and that's even before the hand beading. And some pieces (the ones that overlap the border) can't be appliqued until the border goes in. So you can see I have a loooooooong way to go before Sunday at noon.

I am planning this gigantic apple blossom as the focal point, but only one petal is made so far. Each petal takes about 20-30 individual pieces. I was going to make all the leaves the same way, but if I take that approach, I will never get finished on time.

Maybe I'll take a break from the interior & start piecing the border instead. That isn't even cut yet, and will also be made from a million little pieces. :)

So what do you think? I'm not very happy with it, but I will keep going anyway.

Happy quilting!
