Project Quilting - Apple Blossom Challenge

Well Project Quilting is back with a new challenge!

To give you an update on the last challenge, it was to create a quilt based on the Shoo Fly Block. My entry won the judges vote, which was pretty cool, and I won a hand dyed fat quarter (which I've been secretly coveting for months.)

Here's what the judges had to say on my entry:
Judge 1: Love the way you used your stripe as sashing to make your design a little less symmetrical and add interest. Great use of the button embellishments.

Judge 2: I love the combo of fabrics and use of the focus block. The squiggly strip and buttons make it very unique.

This week's challenge is to create a quilt inspired by apple blossoms, which are blooming at this time of year. I've never been in an orchard during apple blossom time, but from the pictures I've seen, they are really beautiful. You can see pictures over at the Project Quilting blog.

I am planning to enter again, but from one quilt I've already seen, I'm pretty nervous about sending mine in. I've been hard at work on it the last couple of days... at first I was going to go & purchase brand new yardage, but then decided to make it all from scraps that I have. It's quite a challenge to force yourself to use what you have. Since it's a scrap quilt, it won't make too much of a dent in my yardage, but just the fact that I'm using my scraps is a good thing.

I'll try to post pictures when it's a little more formed, but right now it is just in too many pieces!

Happy quilting!
