Jicama Makes a Better Handbag than a Tuber

I name all of my handbags out of fruit & quasi-fruit. Jicama sounded like a cool name for a bag, so even though it is not technically a fruit, it's one of those names that catches on you.

Others must have picked up on it too, because it has turned out to be one of my most popular sellers! Equipped with loads of pockets, and featuring an adjustable strap in the 2010 incarnation, this bag is best when customized (as most of my customers love to do.)

Here is one Jicama bag that I recently finished (along with my newest addition to the photo studio, a miniature wire dressform that fits happily in the light box.) This bag turned out amazingly lovely (I only get partial credit though; my client chose & sent the blue fabric for the exterior, and then selected the paisley from my stash to complement.)

Happy quilting!
