Sailing, Sailing - Binding

I have finished the quilting for this quilt! Time for squaring up and binding!

I probably won't take pictures of the binding - not much to see since I'm using the same fabric as the border & the backing.

Sailing, Sailing - Quilting

I have decided to do custom quilt patterns in each of the block centers, but for the large sailboat, I wanted to do something special.

In the upper part of the sailboat block, I used a large meandering design meant to evoke clouds. I had to be very careful not to stitch the flag down while I was doing this!

In the bottom half of the sailboat block, I added quilting to resemble waves in the water. I think it turned out pretty well:



In the corner medallions, I chose a scroll-type design that contrasts against the straight lines in the block:



Since the border fabric is meant to represent water, I think I will repeat the wave design there too.

Newest Edition to the LoveBug Studios Family

This past weekend, I took advantage of a major store liquidation, and scored the Viking Sapphire 870 for the studio at a great price. This newest acquisition means that the studio will be using a Husqvarna machine for every major operation - piecing, quilting, and serging - and I can now have multiple projects queued up without constantly changing thread and machine settings.
